Everything’s Gonna Be Alright
The 18 year old and I agreed to have lunch with her parents today at their home. This was the first time I would see them since re-uniting with their naïve daughter. I don’t know if they will accept me this easily the second time around; after all, I did break their only child’s heart once—and that can’t sit well with her old man. I don’t know if this is such a great idea, but the hell with it, I had to see them sometime if I was going to keep this “relationship” going, right?
I’m definitely going to need a thick joint to smoke prior to meeting with the 18 year old’s parents because sometimes they cook some food that have an “acquired” taste to it—and I don’t want to insult them by not at least tasting everything they are preparing. What I will taste is the two hush puppies that her mom so eloquently tries to keep hidden under wraps, if given the opportunity. At least I’m slightly reassured by the fact that my “girlfriend’s” dad is not the ideal husband, and that can play in my favor if he starts to mouth off about my faults.
After analyzing the scenario, I think I’ll be alright in the damage control department. I mean, shit, it’s healthy to have bumps in the road when trying to establish a successful relationship. Just because I don’t care about the 18 year old as much as she cares about me doesn’t make me less of “partner”. Opposites attract right?
