Beading Away Boredom
If you went to any small town settler museums over the summer and had one of their tours you probably heard about how among the many other hardships encountered by these early settlers, one common one was a sense of isolated boredom at times.
Thankfully some of the friendlier native tribes had open liberated women who took white settler women like this and showed them the pleasure they could get from beading…which of course led to a lot of the reason that trading for beads became so popular in the early 18th and early 19th century.
